Tornado Damages home of EHBEMS Chief

May 29, 2019

One of the homes directly in the path & severely damaged by the EF2 tornado on 5/28/2019 was the Chief of Elverson Honey Brook Area EMS Joseph Carmen. Joe has been the active chief of the department since 2013, along with being a volunteer in Fire/EMS since 1991. Joe is happily married and the father of 6 children. Thankfully Joe was actively monitoring the radar and outside weather conditions and was able to get his family members to safety in the basement, just as the tornado struck his residence. His home and garage were damaged, along with multiple vehicles and personal effects.

Despite insurance being in place the Carmen family are looking at substantial loss and financial stress due to the event. A GoFundMe page has been established to help with relief. The link can be found below and any donation is sincerely and greatly appreciated.
