A Rainy Day Causes Multiple Accidents On The Turnpike

On March 2nd, 2024, at 09:21 the Twin Valley Fire Department and Elverson-Honey Brook EMS were dispatched to the mile marker 306.8 EB Turnpike in Wallace Township for an auto accident.

Ambulance 89 and Chief 69 (Hornberger) made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center of a vehicle into a guardrail with unknown injuries.

Ambulance 89-1 responded on to the turnpike while Rescue 69 was recalled by Chief 69 as the turnpike commission advised no fire department services would be needed. Ambulance 89-1 arrived to find 1 vehicle on the side of the road with the occupant out of the vehicle. Ambulance 89's crew confirmed the accident would be property damage and turned the scene over to the Pennsylvania State Police and the turnpike commission.

On March 2nd, 2024, at 12:19 the Twin Valley Fire Department and Elverson-Honey Brook EMS were dispatched to mile marker 301.3 EB Turnpike in West Nantmeal Township for another auto accident.

Chief 69 (Hornberger) and Ambulance 89-1 made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center of a single vehicle that had rolled over with unknown injuries.

Rescue 69 staged at the Morgantown Interchange Gate while Ambulance 89-1 proceeded on to the turnpike. Ambulance 89-1 arrived to confirm the report with a total of 5 patients to be checked at mile marker 302.0. Chief 69 arrived and cancelled the fire department and also requested a 2nd ambulance to the scene. Ambulance 189 arrived and was given their respective patients by Ambulance 89-1's crew.

Ambulance 89-1 and Ambulance 189-1 transported their patients to an area hospital and turned the scene over to the Pennsylvania State Police and the turnpike commission.

The final Elverson-Honey Brook EMS unit went available at 14:24.
