Dual Ambulance response to serious accident in Caernarvon Lancaster

(7/27/16) 21:25hrs - Ambulance 89-1, Ambulance 189-1 and Brandywine Hospital Paramedic 93 were dispatched to assist Lancaster County's Caernarvon FD (Sta. 34), Weaverland Valley FD (Sta. 30), Fivepointville Ambulance (Sta 36) and Ephrata Paramedic (4-40) for an MVA with entrapment. Initial reports were of one vehicle overturned with 2-3 trapped.

Chief officers from the before mentioned companies arrived and confirmed the reports of a single vehicle on its roof, heavily damaged with 3 victims confined inside. Due to the serious condition of the patients an additional paramedic unit was requested with a helicopter placed on standby.

Ambulance 89-1 arrived on location while the last victim's extrication was being completed by firefighters, the patient was quickly packaged and prepared for transport at this time Ambulance 189 arrived on location along with the paramedic from Brandywine Hospital. The crew from ambulance 189 assisted the crew of ambulance 89 and the Ephrata 4-40 paramedic in getting the patient stabilized for transport.

All 3 patients were transported by ground and the helicopter was stood down. Ambulance 189-1 was released from the scene, as the 3 victims were transported to a trauma center for treatment by other units.
