47TH Annual National EMS Week May 15-21, 2022

Sunday, May 15th 2022 marks the beginning of National EMS Week and presents an opportunity to honor the men and women who deliver pre-hospital 911 emergency medical care throughout the United States. This vital public safety service is provided primarily by cross trained, multi-role emergency responders. EMS week is a time to pause and give thanks to the entire EMS community, especially our EMR’s (emergency medical responder), EMT’s (emergency medical technician) and paramedics. Our nations all hazards response personnel.

If you happen to see any of our providers during this week, please make sure to thank them as well for all they do!

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our communities. During EMS week, we honor the sacrifice and dedication of everyone in EMS across our great nation.

In 2015, Elverson EMS and Honey Brook Fire Company Ambulance Division merged into a single company, Elverson Honey Brook Area EMS.
In 2021, EMS professionals were tested like never before with the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year the U.S fire service responded to over 300,000 calls in which COVID-19 was suspected or confirmed. The pandemic also brought an abundance of secondary issues, such as training difficulties and supply and workforce shortages. EMS and healthcare workers were pushed to the limits while dealing with the public health crisis of our lifetime, each playing a crucial role in the battle. Yet, these providers remained on the front lines of the pandemic and rose to meet the challenge showing tireless dedication to their communities, which they had done prior to the pandemic and will continue to do every day. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted across the nation the importance of having high quality pre-hospital EMS care in your community. Elverson Honey Brook Area EMS have taken great strides to adapt and overcome the challenging situations associated with the pandemic which involved both operation and administrative changes to ensure service remained uninterrupted in the community.

During 2021, our crews at EHBEMS responded to a total of 2,633 emergencies.

We have multiple trained EMT’s on duty always, meaning anyone in our coverage response area of 12 municipalities, in 3 counties experiencing a medical emergency will receive high level professional EMS care 24/7, 365 days per year, often under the most difficult circumstances and often perilous conditions.

At EHBEMS we strive to be a premier emergency services organization through the continuous improvement and exceeding our dynamic community’s expectations by understanding its needs. We also strive at having close working relationships with everyone in the chain of emergency services.

In the EMS community, the best care is provided when first responders work together. Our EMS providers work alongside the firefighters, police, and fire police at the scenes of car accidents, fires, and rescue calls. As a team, we help others through the worst incidents of their lives and provide a sense of security and relief in the chaos. We truly understand we are much more than our individual strengths and character—that each of us bring unique talents and experiences to our organization and these individual talents and experiences come together to make us stronger as a team than we could ever be individually. We wish to thank ALL emergency responders and healthcare workers, not only during this EMS week, but daily. Your assistance is vital to our success. Thank you.

To our very own providers here at EHBEMS, we thank you for your continued hard work, long hours, experience, compassion, professionalism and training, for all the time away from your own families to help those in need and your dedication and pride in your Elverson Honey Brook Area EMS family!
