| Elverson Honey Brook Area EMS proudly welcomed more than 100 community members to our annual Open House at our Elverson station. The event gave residents the chance to meet their local emergency medical providers, see our equipment up close, and learn valuable lifesaving skills.
A major feature of the day was Hands-Only CPR training, where attendees learned how chest compressions alone can improve survival rates for someone in cardiac arrest. Many left with the confidence to step in and help during an emergency.
We also distributed Narcan kits and trained participants on their use. Narcan is a vital tool in reversing opioid overdoses, and by placing it in the hands of the public, we extend the chain of survival and give families and bystanders the ability to act before EMS arrives.
Our crews offered ambulance tours, demonstrated medical equipment, and answered questions about the care we provide. This gave neighbors a behind-the-scenes look at how we operate and what happens during an emergency call.
Another highlight was the vehicle rescue demonstration, conducted with the Twin Valley Fire Department. Community members saw how fire and EMS teams work together to safely remove a patient from a wrecked vehicle. The demonstration underscored the importance of teamwork and the specialized skills required in serious emergencies.
Events like this open house do more than showcase our equipment. They allow us to build trust and familiarity with the people we serve. Meeting our providers in a calm setting helps community members feel more confident and reassured if they ever need us during a crisis.
We thank everyone who attended, along with our partners at Twin Valley Fire Department, for making this year’s Open House a success. |
