April 10, 2026

On April 10th, Battalion Chief Ostrowski, Chief Welch, and EMT Grace McCarthy participated in the annual Career Fair at Daniel Boone High School. What made this event especially meaningful was Grace’s unique perspective—serving not only as an EMT with EHBEMS, but also as a current student at the school. This allowed her to connect with her peers on a more personal level, offering firsthand insight into what it takes to earn an EMT certification while still in high school. She spoke in depth about the value of volunteerism, balancing academic responsibilities with training, and the opportunities for growth within EMS, including her goal of becoming a crew chief in the future.
EHBEMS would like to thank Daniel Boone High School for once again welcoming us to be part of this impactful event. Career fairs like this serve as a vital bridge between education and real-world opportunities, giving students direct access to professionals who can share honest experiences and practical guidance. By engaging students early, we help them better understand the pathways available to them—whether that means entering the workforce shortly after graduation or continuing their education in the medical field.
EHBEMS remains committed to supporting and mentoring the next generation. By fostering curiosity and providing accessible entry points into emergency medical services, we aim to empower young individuals to pursue meaningful careers. Many students at this stage of life are at a pivotal decision-making point, and exposure to EMS can spark a lifelong passion for helping others. Whether they choose to remain in EMS or advance into fields such as paramedicine, nursing, or other healthcare professions, these early experiences can play a critical role in shaping their future.
